Video Game, Tester Jobs – Before and Now

A few decades ago, the most widely available video game was called ‘Spacewar’. It was a game played by two players who had spaceships firing missiles at each other. Although it was just a successor a few older computer-operated games like The Cathode Ray Amusement Device (1947) by Thomas T Goldsmith Jr and Estle Ray Mann, and the ‘Tennis for Two’ (1958) which was used only to entertain visitors of the Brookhaven National Laboratory, Spacewar was considered the most influential to all modern video games.

In 1972, Pong came out as one of the most popular video arcade games. Pong was a success that many manufacturers came out with their own versions of the game. Many other video games came out during the 70’s but it was only at the later part of the decade and the next ten years that many video game manufacturers came out after the success of Pong. Some copied the same gameplay as Pong and later on developed their own games to compete in the growing industry.

Late 1970s to 1980s was considered the golden age of video arcade games. Aside from video arcades and home consoles, home computers began to flourish together with its rapidly evolving and more sophisticated games.  Until later times where three-dimensional graphic animation and sophisticated sounds were developed, it became important for manufacturers to hire video game testers in order to ensure the products quality assurance. This is to avoid bugs and errors that may lead to a crash not only of the game but of the industry as well. Love My Job As A Video Game Tester

Some people think I’m crazy when I believe I’m a serious person. I’m perhaps a bored guy who loves to mess around with things and loves to experiment for the gratification of my curiosity for the sake of adventure and of discovery. I also have an inclination to openly express my opinion about things, especially things that should work but do not, and those that do but shouldn’t! Nevertheless, I know the difference between reality and fantasy. No matter how abrasive my character may seem because of my being outspoken, I always speak with sincerity and for a definite purpose.

Aside from chocolate bars I have a strong passion for video games. In fact, I can survive a whole day with nothing but chocolate bars and video games! I remember a time when I would spend almost every single day at a video arcade instead of going school — I was a video addict.

Though I would admit that playing video games as a teen-ager was just a form of escape from the stresses of growing up. At the later life, I often criticize myself how could I get myself over with this and to focus on other things? Until finally, I got a job and as a video game tester made me utilize my natural love for experimenting on things – my propensity to find faults, and my being outspoken with my opinions.

You too can work and earn by playing video games. If you’re considering a career as a video game tester, you may visit GamingJobsOnline.com for more “serious” articles and information.
