A few decades ago, the most widely available video game was called ‘Spacewar’. It was a game played by two players who had spaceships firing missiles at each other. In 1972, Pong came out as one of the most popular video arcade games. Pong was a success that many manufacturers came out with their own versions of the game. Many other video games came out during the 70’s but it was only at the later part of the decade and the next ten years that many video game manufacturers came out after the success of Pong. Some copied the same gameplay as Pong and later on developed their own games to compete in the growing industry.
Late 1970s to 1980s was considered the golden age of video arcade games.
