The Challenge Ahead:
EA is hiring for a Contract QA Project Lead to support external developers working with the EA partners publishing group (EAP), helping ensure we deliver high quality experiences to our players. This is a fantastic opportunity to work across a wide variety of different titles with a host of different independent, creative and passionate developers.
What a QA Project Lead does at EA:
Collaborating closely with offsite test centre team to help facilitate strong operational project ownership
Identifying QA processes that can be refined to improve efficiency and work with test centre to drive implementation
Collaborating with all departments/disciplines (Localisation, Compliance, development, etc..) to improve overall processes
Supporting test centre to ensure adequate resource plans are in place and provide the required capacity, ensuring any changes to scope or schedules mitigated in an efficient manner
Mentoring test centre team, to identify areas they are deficient in terms of project ownership capabilities and work with them to improve
Work with QA project manager and test centre team to create comprehensive project test plans
Assist with standardisation and documentation of QA processes to be used across all EAP titles
Work with the external developer, EAP development team and Test centre to ascertain content and scope of the title and create a comprehensive risk based coverage plan
Assisting test centre with review and refinement of QA test cases
Help drive a data driven risk based approach across all EAP titles
Drive best practices in terms of maximising the efficient use of the limited tools and tech available when working with external developers
Establishing and maintaining strong working relationship with the external developer, EAP team, QA and other groups
Assist with the establishment of a strong suite of reports that provide all key stakeholders with clear, concise, actionable data
Monitoring progress against plans and helping test centre course correct if we fall behind or there are changes to scope
Analyse QA data to ensure its validity remains high and that project risk is identified early and strong mitigation is put in place
Ensuring we are aligned with the external developer’s internal practices and can provide them with the support they need to create the best game possible in an efficient manner
Ensure that we are communicating clear milestone expectations to the external developer and fix priorities are clear
Supporting milestone sign off process and ensuring all submissions to first parties go smoothly
The next great EA QA Project Lead also needs:
Experience working in the video games industry
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Self-motivated, with the ability to work as part of a team but also on their own
Ability to multi-task and prioritise their own work
Detail orientated, with strong observational and analytical skills
Ability to work with distributed internal and external teams
Passion for quality
Ability to mentor and cultivate strong QA mentality in external teams
Experience in directing test activities of both local and external test teams
Previous experience in Project Lead role in games QA (ideally on major consoles)
Experience with applications such as Atlassian’s JIRA, Confluence and TechExcel’s DevTest
Experience with working with external or offsite teams
Track record for implementing process improvements
