Lead QA at KIXEYE
KIXEYE is looking for a QA Lead to join the live browser based game Battle Pirates. As a QA Lead, you will be a hands-on manager of a team of Quality Assurance Analysts. We're seeking a person who is equally adept at management as well as being a senior tester.
What you get to do every day:
- Work alongside the core group of leads on the project to plan for future features and product releases to the live game
- Manage a small team of Quality Assurance Analysts providing them with weekly and daily tasks to guide their testing
- Maintain a detailed plan for regular, weekly releases of new content to the live game, any testing that will need to be done, any test casing that will need to be prepared in advance, and whatever changes will need to be tracked to ensure the highest quality of delivered features
- Review product briefs for upcoming features and provide feedback about any potential blockers on the start of development of said features or testing concerns/requirements
- Be the expert on the testing of the game and the use of admin tools for testing and setting up features both on test environments and the live game, assisting the rest of the game team with the use of the tools whenever needed
- Oversee the release of new features to the live game, the start of in-game events, and maintenance windows
- Be prepared at all times to troubleshoot and help the team with the tracking and eventual fixing of issues reported in the live environment for the game, prioritizing issues on the fly
What you bring to the role:
- You are a proven hands-on manager or lead that has risen through the QA ranks
- You are comfortable delegating tasks to your team to ensure that team members are kept occupied and no one person is taking on a disproportionate amount of the workload
- You have a deep understanding of JIRA, or other ticket tracking software, and are used to keeping track of the bigger picture for a complex, fast paced project
- You are practiced in tracking down and reviewing data changes in a variety of data formats and document types
- You translate a product brief/spec into nuanced test casing with ease and are discerning when reviewing the test casing of others, always providing critical feedback when needed
- You stand up for the quality of the project and ensure that any concerns with a release are voiced and addressed in a timely manner
- You communicate clearly at all levels on the project team, seeking out engineers, designers, and product owners whenever necessary to facilitate smooth feature releases
